There are two types of caskets available those made from Wood and Metal.
Wood caskets are typically selected for their beauty and craftsmanship. The cost is determined by the type of material and the amount of detail that is used in crafting the enterior and exterior of the casket. Hardwoods include Mahogany, Cherry, Maple, Oak, Pine and Poplar to name a few.

Metal Caskets are made of bronze, copper, stainless steel, and are known for their protective features and unique finishes. Bronze and copper are among the most durable and beautiful of metals; both are naturally non-rusting. Stainless and carbon steel caskets come in a variety of grades, gauges (16G, 18G & 20G), styles and finishes.

The guage is the number of sheets of metal it takes to make one inch in thickness. Some metal caskets offer cathodic protection to help reduce rusting and errosion. A disclosure should be placed inside the caskets noting that "There is no scientific evidence that a sealing device used in the construction of a casket will preserve human remains."
Cremation Caskets include: Hardwood Caskets for those desiring the very best; Cremation Containers for those wanting a simple yet dignified container to protect their loved ones.

Jewish Caskets are biodegradable and composed entirely from wood.

When you select ground burial, most cemeteries require an outer burial container or vault to place the casket in before final interment. The function of the burial vault is to provide stability in containing the casketed remains and reinforcing the strength of the earth above the interment space. The vault or liner helps to avoid sinking and protection from heavy equipment above ground.
Vaults are contructed of heavy duty concrete and are often lined with materials such as Strentex or metals like Steel, Copper or Bronze. They can be customized with color options and personalized for the deceased to include date of birth and death, name and emblems.

Memorial Tablets or Monuments are available in two types flat which are made of bronze or granite and upright typically made of granite. Most cemeteries in California have adopted the "memorial" concept of having a flat headstone providing a view of green lawns, flowers, trees and other statuary for those visiting the cemetery in essence creating a "park like" setting.

Older cemeteries and many throughout the midwest and the east coast still prefer upright monuments. We can assist you in determining the type that is allowed when selecting cemetery property ahead of time.
